Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy is the oldest educational center in the area of agricultural sciences in Russia and the world, which has good capacities and high potential to train qualified workforce in this area.

Russian State Agrarian University named after Timiryazev is the oldest and most famous agricultural university in Russia and the world. The university was founded in 1865, when in Russia there was a need for specialists in agriculture, who managed to organize, in a scientific way, production of agricultural products. The university was named in honor of Kliment Timiryazev, a leading Russian botanist.

In the course of the last 150 years, the university has achieved a significant scientific progress and a lot on its way as the first national school of higher agricultural education. The current advanced scientific base of Russian agriculture has been formed as a network of agricultural educational and research institutes, having various bases, in Russia together with this university. The university is a pioneer of the Russian federal agricultural scientific education from the very beginning, and its role has recently grown.

In April 2014, the State University of Natural Resources Management and Moscow State Agroengineering University named after V.P. Goryachkin joined Russian State Agrarian University named after Timiryazev. The outcome of the sesquicentennial activities was the work of around 4,000 employees and lecturers, training of more than 200 specialists in agriculture from the near-abroad and far-abroad countries. Tens of thousands of foreigners from Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States of America received an education at this university and now hold key senior and public posts in their countries. In 2008, by direction of the Then-President of Russia, Russian State Agrarian University named after Timiryazev was included in the list of valuable cultural heritage sites of Russia.

At present, at the university there study more than 18,000 students. Currently, Professor Galina Zolina is the Rector of this university.

This university has 13 dormitories. Construction of the first dormitory began in 1926. The dormitory was open on the eve of 1929 and later became a hospital for injured officers in the course World War II from September 1941 to May 1943.

13 dormitories for students of Russian State Agrarian University named after Timiryazev, just as in other universities, constitute the full complex of 14 buildings with developed infrastructure, which provide all conditions and possibilities for living and rest of the students. In dormitories, there are a student canteen, a hair salon, a café, a student laundry room, a central research library, a sports complex, an art center, a parking lot and a police station. All of these dormitories were gradually built around the university in different periods of time and used, when needed.
