Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU)

Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) is the oldest and best university in Russia, founded in 1755. Establishment of the first Russian university and academy in Moscow became possible thanks to the work of the distinguished Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov (1711-1765). Today MSU is deemed the largest classical university in Russia, where there study more than 45,000 students from all around Russia and the world.

Besides, at the university, there work around 5,000 lecturers and 15,000 nonacademic employees, of whom around 2,500 persons have the highest doctoral degrees, and by now 11 lecturers and representatives of the academic council of the university were awarded the Novel prize.

This university comprises 40 faculties, 15 scientific and research institutes, 750 scientific and research subgroups, laboratories, medical research and educational centers, libraries, four museums, a botanical garden and a scientific park. A few branches of the university are located in Russia, Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Astana, Baku, Dushanbe and Yerevan, where around 3,000 students study.

Ranked 95^th in the world

In the latest world ranking, published by the British consulting company QS in June 2017, Lomonosov Moscow State University ranked 95^th. The main beautiful building of this university is one of the seven magnificent and famous buildings of the Seven Sisters in Moscow, which is situated on Sparrow Hills and is deemed the highest educational building in the world.

The dormitories for students of Lomonosov Moscow State University have several facilities, located in the main building of the university, and the complex of separate campuses, which have all the necessary conditions for comfortable living of the students and teachers.

The structure of the university’s dormitory comprises seven separate campuses with developed infrastructure. The dormitory is intended for all the students, who have come from other cities and countries. Furthermore, the university has been working on building of new rooms for all the students, who are in need of them. At present, Professor Viktor Sadovnichiy is the Rector of the university.
