Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas

It functions as the National Research University and is the largest educational and research center in Russia in the area of oil and gas.

Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas was founded in 1930 by prominent Russian scientist Ivan Mikhaylovich Gubkin (1871-1939) and is the most important university center in the Russian system of education in the field of oil and gas.

The university has 12 faculties with various educational programs related to the oil and gas industry, for three academic degrees: bachelor, master and doctor. The university also has two branches in Orenburg (Russia) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

The number of the students, who study at this university, is 10,000 persons, including two branches, from whom around 60% study and conduct research in any fields with a scholarship from the federal budget of Russia. The number of the lecturers is around 810 persons. At the university there study around 1,600 foreign students from 56 countries of the world.

Since 2008, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas has been being run by Professor Viktor Martinov.

The university has been unchangingly making the top three Russian universities among employees in terms of demand for graduates of the Russian universities. Besides, it ranks fifth among Russian universities and the 256^th among the 500 best universities in the world according to the Global World Communicator (GWC). According to the QS ranking (World University Rankings), it also makes the top eight Russian higher education institutions.

At present, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas is considered a modern and innovative training center and one of the leaders of the Russian higher technical education, which in 2010 was awarded with the status of Russian National Research University.

The campus of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas is located in the south-west of Moscow, near Kaluzhskaya Metro Station. The complex includes five dormitories and one sports center. This is a full complex with completely developed infrastructure and which is equipped with all the amenities that are necessary for living and rest of the students.

The buildings of the campus are fitted with a gym, a room for sports and exercises, a club for relaxation and 4 shops, a computer center, a cinema hall and a student theatre, as well as a premise for keeping of bicycles. The dormitory is open for all the students, who study at the university, from other cities and countries. It can take 30-40 minutes to get by public transport to the training buildings from the dormitories.

Each building of the campus is a separate dormitory with several blocks, each of which includes a bathroom and a water closet, as well as two bedrooms for 2, 4 or 5 persons. On each floor there is a kitchen for cooking. In the blocks, there is a division of living for male and female persons.
