Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology

Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is the most important educational institution in the area of physics and related fields, which plays an important role in research and physics, electronics and nanotechnology projects in Russia.

Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is one of the leading technical higher education institutions in the area of theoretical and applied physics, mathematics and related fields in Russia, which was initially set up in 1946 by order of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union as the Physics and Technology Faculty of the Moscow State University. In 5 years, it was founded as Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology by three Russian physicists: P.L. Kapitsa, N.N. Semyonov and L.V. Landau.

In the recent years, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, nowadays known as the Advanced Research Center, has set up 64 new laboratories in the area of nanotechnologies, optics, quantum calculations, photonics, where many globally renowned scientists work.

From 2011 to 2016, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology ranked second among Russian universities in terms of the average grade obtained at the entrance examination by the applicants, admitted for the first year of study. In 2016, Times Higher Education magazine recognized the university as one of the 350 most prestigious universities in the world.

At present, on 11 faculties of the university, there study around 6,100 students, and 80 lecturers, who are members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, teach students at the university, which is very indicative. During the period of activities of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, about 36 thousand persons graduated from this university, many of whom have achieved success in various fields of science, business and even arts.

At present, the university is run by Professor Nikolay Kudryavtsev.
