Russian University of Transport (Moscow University of Railway Engineering)

Russian University of Transport or Moscow University of Railway Engineering is the most important Russian educational institution in the area of transport and related fields, which is a good technical and human support for the vast transport system of Russia.

At the end of the 19^th century, because of expansion of the railway transport in Russia and the country’s need for qualified staff in this area, as well as for that reason that St. Petersburg Transport University was not able to train more specialists, in 1986 by order of the Russian Emperor there was established Moscow Engineering School.

During that time, at that School it was possible to undergo intensive three-year training. In 1917, upon the Bolshevik coup and setting of the communist regime, the School was renamed into Moscow Institute of Transport, and after very successful and important years in the history of the Soviet railway transport in 1993 it was renamed into Moscow State University of Transport.

From 2017, upon merger of Moscow University of Sea Transport and Moscow University of Air Transport, the university was turned into Russian University of Transport.

At present, at the university, which has a leading educational center for training and educating of specialists in the transport area of Russia, there study around 93,000 students (including the students, who study in 26 other branches of this university in Russia). Furthermore, 1,900 lecturers are in charge of teaching and training of those students. At present, Doctor Vadim Maruzov is the President of Russian University of Transport.

Opportunities for students

For the well-being of students of this university, there are 8 dormitories capable to accommodate 5,500 persons. In addition, Russian University of Transport has provided a very good platform for the students, for them to be able to do sports better, having allocated a large space for sports (swimming pools and various gyms).
