Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory
The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory is one of the oldest and most famous music educational centers in the world.
The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory is indeed considered the heart of Russian art. On a level with the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Hermitage and the Kremlin, this institution is globally considered a symbol of Russian culture and art.
The Conservatory was founded by Russian Music Society in 1859 in Saint Petersburg and Moscow to promote musical culture in Russia, to hold various musical concerts, as well as to train and educate new talents in the country. Russian Music Society finally established the Conservatory in Saint Petersburg in 1862 and in Moscow in 1866. At that time 25 years old Russian pianist Nikolai Rubinstein took the lead of the Moscow Conservatory. Among the teachers, there were famous Russian musicians of that time, including Tchaikovsky, Minkus, LaVey, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Ashkenazy, Tretiakova, Ritter, Gilels, Niehaus and other.

At present, the Moscow Conservatory is one of the best and most prestigious music educational centers in the world and the only music educational institution in Russia, which functions as a university. In 1991, by order of then President of Russia, the Moscow Conservatory was selected and named as one of the valuable centers of Russian cultural heritage. Professor Aleksandr Sokolov, a Russian musician and former Minister of Culture of Russia, currently runs the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
