Moscow State Forest University

Moscow State Forest University is the largest educational institution in Russia in the area of forest science and related industries, which exists under the egis of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

Moscow Forest Engineering Institute was established in 1919 to train specialists in forestry as a branch of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University on the outskirts of Moscow. At present, the university is considered a higher educational institution in the country in the area of forest engineering and natural resources.

Furthermore, in 1959, at the initiative of prominent scientist and founder of the former Soviet airspace system Sergei Korolev, at the institute there was set up the Faculty of Electronics and Engineering Systems. Upon reorganization, there was set up the Airspace Faculty at the institute. This Faculty trains specialists in any areas of the airspace and rocket industry, where computers, information and computer systems, networks, data, statistical processing, etc. are used.

At present, 6,200 students study on two main faculties of this university, namely the Faculty of Forestry and the Airspace Faculty. Besides, 400 lecturers, who hold various academic degrees, teach students at the university.

Professor Viktor Sanaev is the Rector of Moscow State Forest University.
