National University of Science and Technology MISiS, Moscow

The National University of Science and Technology is one of the best technical and engineering universities in Russia and a center of national research in training and educating of specialists in the area of material engineering, metallurgy and mining.

MISiS University was founded in 1930 as Moscow Institute of Steel, and since 1962 it has been known as Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. In 2008, with the approval of the Ministry of Science of Russia the center was renamed into the National Center of Science. Finally, in 2014, upon merger of Moscow Mining University, there began a new era of activities at Moscow University of Technology.

The National University of Science and Technology is one of the leading technical and engineering universities in Russia, which has been largely successful over the recent years in quality education in Russia and internationally. Many specialists and engineers graduate from this university majoring in metallurgy, materials, nanotechnologies, resource and environmental protection, issue of quality control certificates, economics, management, mining and related industries.

At present, around 15,000 students study on 11 faculties. In 2017, the National University of Science and Technology, which, in contrast with other Russian educational centers, has been actively carrying out activities in international educational complexes in the world, was included in the list of 500 best universities in the world and ranked 13^th among the best universities in Russia (technical and engineering ones) according to the QS ranking.

At present, Alutina Chernikova is the Rector of this University. Besides, the dormitory of this educational institution, consisting of four 15-storeyed blocks, is ready to accommodate 2,800 foreign and nonresident students.
