Moscow Aviation Institute

It is one of the best Russian higher education institutions in the area of aviation industry, which is also actively engaged in the international relations.

The Soviet aviation industry was successful in the latter half of the 1960s and at the beginning of the 1970s. During those years, in the country there were built several airports, and the length of the Russian airlines achieved a million kilometers. Aeroflot performs regular flights to 90 countries of the world.

Such development in this industry required availability of professional and productive specialists in this industry. For that very reason, the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the USSR decided to establish an aviation institute in Moscow.

In 1971, the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted the plan of establishment of Moscow Aviation Institute for training of specialized staff and specialists in the daytime and evening-time. In the first year of its existence, at the university there studied 2,500 students and worked 80 lecturers.

In the course of time, due to allocation of the equipment, necessary for construction of new training spaces and laboratory and scientific premises, planes, helicopters and dormitories for lecturers and students, the institute concentrated on scientific activities, strived to optimize the fuel consumption by planes, to construct modern planes, to participate in congresses and scientific conferences in different countries and to achieve other long-term goals.

Establishment of 6 new branches in Russia

The educational center became a state university in 1993, and since 2013 it has established six branches in Moscow and other cities in Russia due to increase in the number of students.

At present, at the university there study around 3,700 students, including 100 foreign students and 100 postgraduates and Candidates of Sciences. At the institute there also work famous lecturers and scientists, specifically 56 lecturers and 170 scientists.

Furthermore, in the international context, Moscow Aviation Institute has signed bilateral agreements for cooperation with many educational centers all over the world and airline companies, including Airbus, which is indicative of the role of this university in the area of aviation science engineering in Russia.

Besides, Moscow Aviation Institute has done a great job regarding and has given the necessary opportunities in the area of arts and sports, including a football stadium, gyms and swimming pools, as well as a 16-storeyed dormitory for students.
