Moscow State University of Civil Engineering

It is the most important educational center in the area of civil engineering and related fields in Russia, which plays an important role in designing and implementation of various construction projects in the country.

The Moscow State University of Civil Engineering is one of the best educational institutions in the area of civil engineering and related fields, which ranks 11^th among the most outstanding Russian higher education institutions in the ranking of Moscow’s higher education institutions.

The university was founded at the end of the 19^th century as Moscow Construction School. In 1897, they started the first educational course in civil engineering, which was taken by civil engineers, specialists in road engineering and land surveyors. By 1933, more than 5,000 persons had undergone training at this educational institution. There were around 600 professors and lecturers on the faculty. In 1959, as a result of merger of the Construction Institute of the Moscow Council and the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute, there was created the largest educational institution in the country, where 7,000 students studied in those years.

The university gradually became one of the largest universities in the country with students and graduates from 64 foreign countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. By decree of the Council of Ministers of the Russian Federation dated June 15, 1993, the name of the university was changed into Moscow State University of Civil Engineering. Because of all of those changes in the structure of the university, it became the main higher education institution of the International Association of Civil Engineering Higher Education Institutions, which included 152 universities from the CIS states. By the early 21^st century, there had been signed more than 60 agreements for cooperation with foreign universities from 22 countries of the world.

At present, this university carries out joint research work with more than one hundred universities from 34 countries of the world and the Islamic Republic of Iran (Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran). In 2010, the Government of the Russian Federation awarded the university with the status of the National Research University. Currently, at the university there study around 21,000 students, of whom around 600 persons hold the degree of Doctor of Sciences. Besides, 1,300 lecturers teach students at the Moscow University of Civil Engineering. The university has been being run by Professor Andrey Volkov since 2013.

The dormitories are intended for use by all the students from other Russian cities, as well as the students from other countries, which study at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering.
