Russian Technological University (Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation)

Russian Technological University is one of the leading educational institutions in Russia for training of specialists in such areas as information technologies, radio and electronics.

The university was founded in 1947 under the initial name of Moscow Power Institute. In the course of time, by tradition, the Soviet system of education changed the structure, name and purpose of the institute in the period after World War II, and in 1967 it was renamed into Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation to train specialists in electronics and radio engineering.

During the period from 1967 to 1993, Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, which was awarded the status of Engineering and Technical University, trained more than 45,000 students, which is indicative of its importance in the former Soviet system of education.

During the period from 2013 to 2015, according to decree of the Ministry of Science of Russia, there were added the universities as follows to Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation:

Russian Research Institute of Information Technologies and Computer-Aided Engineering Systems

Moscow State University of Information Technologies, Radio Engineering and Electronics

Institute of Professional Administration and Complex Energy Efficiency

Moscow State University of Fine Chemical Technologies named after M.V. Lomonosov

Upon addition of the above institutions, the Institute of Radio Engineering was renamed into Moscow Technological University, and at present, it is one of the best and most qualitative universities in Russia in the area of telecommunications, information technologies and computers, automation, cybernetics, radio engineering and electronics, chemistry, biotechnologies, etc.

At present, around 22,000 students, including 1,000 foreign students, study at Moscow branch and in three other branches of the university in three other cities of Russia. Besides, around 2,000 lecturers teach students at the university. Moscow Technological University is headed by Professor Stanislav Kudzh.

In addition, for the well-being of the students, there are 5 multi-storeyed dormitories, equipped with all the amenities, which can be used by foreign and nonresident students.
