Moscow State Institute of Culture

Moscow State Institute of Culture is one of the most prestigious higher educational institutions in Russia in the area of arts, music, social sciences and humanities.

Moscow State Institute of Culture, which functions under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, was established in 1930 under the name of Moscow Library Institute while having 114 students. In 1964, this institution was renamed into Moscow State Institute of Culture, and the number of the faculties and students was gradually growing. In 2006, the university was awarded with the Prize of the Club of the Rectors of Europe. In 2007, the university held the first international symposium “Universities of Culture and Arts in the World Educational Space: Cultural Diversity for the sake of Dialogue and Development”, where representatives from 42 countries took part.

At present, the university works in various educational fields, the field of research and culture at all levels of the academic education and vocational secondary education.

At present, more than 12,000 students from Russia and other countries study in Moscow branch and also in 8 other branches in various parts of Russia on seven faculties. Among graduates of the university, there are many famous people, including Russian government officials, heads of Russian universities, libraries and theatres, heads of many musical bands and prominent Russian musicians.

Besides, there are 4 dormitories for students, who have arrived from other cities and countries.

At present, the Rector of the university is Arseniy Mironov.
