Saint Petersburg State University

It is the oldest and one of the largest universities in Russia

This university was the first university in Russia, built in 1724 by a decree of Peter the Great.

From the very beginning of its foundation, the university has had a strong focus on fundamental research, engineering and humanities, and, teaching graduating students throughout its history, it has achieved a great success in its promotion in Russia. The university has 24 faculties and one institute, as well as the medical college, the college of physical culture and sports, economics, etc.

The university has two dormitories: one on Vasilievsky Island and the other in Peterhof. This university is considered the second-largest higher education institution in Russia after Moscow State University.

In the former Soviet Union, this educational institution was known as Leningrad State University. Saint Petersburg State University is the second-largest, in terms of the number of faculties, university in the country after Moscow State University.
