Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Equipment

It is one of the most important Russian training centers in the field of aerospace, aviation technology and the production of equipment and instruments in these areas.

Aerospace institutes were established in Moscow and Kharkov in 1930, and in Kazan and Rybinsk in 1932 to train personnel specializing in the aerospace industry. In 1941, the Council of the People’s Commissariat of the Soviet Union adopted a directive on the establishment of the Leningrad Aviation Institute, marking the official beginning of the activities of the Petersburg Aerospace University, which is progressing to this day.

In the 1970s, after the heyday of Soviet space activities and achievements such as the flight of Yuri Gagarin or the successful launch of the Boran shuttle, the institute became an important educational and research center in Russia and the world.

Today, the university’s activities are not limited to aerial and space research. Among the newly formed disciplines are informatics, innovation management, protection of information and international communications, theoretical knowledge in the field of law, linguistics and many other disciplines.

Currently, the university includes 9 institutes, 4 faculties and more than 40 educational institutions and more than 6 dormitory complexes with full equipment. 135 educational and scientific projects are also on its agenda. There are currently about 13,500 students enrolled, of which about 1,000 are foreign students from 39 different countries. Saint Petersburg Aerospace University also collaborates internationally with other universities around the world in various areas of student, engineer and professor exchange.

Also, the main and beautiful building of the university, located next to one of the famous water canals of St. Petersburg, was built in 1847.
